My iPhone 4 lock/power button is stuck and won't work. What do I do?
So I went to lock my iPhone today and the button was stiff and wouldn't do anything. Could anybody tell me what the problem is and what I can do to fix it? Will apple fix it for free?
This is a common, well known problem, but despite that Apple will not fix it, if you bring it to them they are going to say that you need to get a new phone, and you will have to pay 200 dollars for a new phone. Its very annoying, but I had to do this with mine. If you do go to the Apple store to get a new one, make sure that you backup all your data from the old one so that you can restore it to the new one.
It would most likely be a hardware fault in the device. If you purchased the phone less than a year ago it will be covered by the limited warranty on the device and Apple would be more than happy to replace it for you free of charge.
If you have had it longer than a year you would required to have previously purchased AppleCare or have insurance with your carrier to get a free replacement. If you have home and contents insurance it is another thing to look into.
Otherwise the paid replacement options will give you a replacement iPhone and apple will take the damaged one off your hands, this is much cheaper than buying a brand new device.
Be sure to back up regularly and use iCloud for contacts to be on he safe side!

- Stuck iPhone 4 lock button! Stuck/Stripped screws Okay so, I've had this stupid panda case on my phone and it jammed my lock button. It still works if you push super hard from the side, but no clicking sound. I saw how to fix it by opening my phone up but the screws won't come out no matter what! I tried a screwdriver alone, with duct tape, rubber band, double sided tape, everything! I don't have a warranty on my phone, and I'm looking for a super inexpensive (>$5) way to fix it, any ideas?
