IOS 9 should actually improve your battery life, not deplete it. It's probably something wrong with the the update. I would advise restoring it to factory default in iTunes and setting it up as a new device for a day or so to test it out, if it's working then try restoring your backup on. (P.s. Back it up in iCloud, not iTunes because the flaw can carry over).

1.) Clean all your apps cache in settings.
2.) Remove any unwanted apps from your phone.
3.) If none of these work I recommend a factory reset but make sure all of your important stuff is off your phone first as it does wipe all your files.

Turn off blue tooth and anything else you don't need

Close any apps you have running in the background, especiall those that use GPS, maps, or camera apps.

Its just that this version is not compatible with your device so just downgrade it and wait for a compatible one. I'm sure it will work and in case you want to have some serious security for your device, do install Leo Privacy Guard, it will make your device totally secure and you would be glad to have one of the world's top ten apps.
