My iPhone 5 screen has water in it, help anyone?

It was raining today and the water went underneath the screen, making the screen lighter than it is and dark blue spots near the bottom. Any suggestions? I really can't afford to go to an Apple store and have it fixed there. I've heard of rice, and I'm currently putting it in a container rice. Anything like this happen before to you, and did the rice help?

Rice does work, but do it right.
It needs to be a VERY WARM -DRY PLACE, so the rice absorbs the water as it evaporates.

The rice absorbs the moisture quicker than the air.will.

Put Aprox 1 to 2 cups white rice in a paper bag
Wrap the phone in a single layer of facial tissue to prevent the dust from the rice getting inside it.
Place the phone "ON" the rice, SCREEN SIDE DOWN & fold the bag closed (tape if needed)
Place the bag in a very warm area for the day with a towel over it.

HINT:
DARK interior cars get hot

  • My iPhone has water in it how can I get the water out? I got a little bit of water in it at my pool and it shutoff within a minute or so, it won't turn back on and I have had it in rice for over 10 hours.
  • My iPhone 5 has water in the screen. Only a little bit though? I put my iPhone on the bench for a few minutes and I did not realise there was water on it. Unfortunately, there's now only a little bit of water. I put the iPhone into a bag of rice and now IIm waiting for it. IIm just wondering how long it will take to get the water out because I need it tomorrow.
  • My iphone 4 has water damage and won't let me off the lock screen? I spilt water on my iphone 4 but just left it on the side for a week. So she I turn it on it freezes on the lock screen and won't let me touch nothing so I tried the thing where you hold the two buttons down and when it goes off I turn it back on but that doesn't work.
  • Iphone submerged in water, logic board has water damage? My phone was under water for 10 sec. Atleast and in my wet pocket for about 2 minutes. Led wouldnt turn off and power / lock button didn't work… Put it in rice and two days later i charge it apple logo pops up then writing pops up above the apple logo. Will the guy taking my phone to clean it out and try to fix it need my passcode? And will my contacts, apps, photos, music, internet history still be on my phone? Like when he fixes it turns and on and stuff?
