My iPhone keeps running out of batteries when its charged?

So recently, i got the screen and backplate replaced on my iPhone 4 by an aisian guy in a mall in SF. I noticed the backplate wasn't stuck on there as tightly as the stock apple one was. But, i decided to visit him after the trip to ireland. I left the next day, and here i'm a week later. Last night i charged my iPhone 4 to 100%, unplugged it, and layed in my bed playing field runners. After an hour, it was already down to 44%, then just died. When i tried to turn it back on, it says to connect it to the charger, the battery was empty. After trying to turn it on numerous times over the next 10-15 mins, it came back on, and what do you know? 44% battery. Then, after 5 mins of use, it died, couldnt turn it back on. I just plugged it in, and its recharging from 12%. WTF is going on!

You're worried about getting ripped off by Apple, yet it seems like you got more ripped off by the kiosk in the mall.

Frankly while there are many people out there who are claiming to be able to repair any brand of smart phone, they are not using Apple products and if they are, the parts are likely reclaimed from damaged iPhones.

Honestly your best bet is to take it to the Apple store and let them do what they need to do with it. Next phone you get I strongly recommend paying for the one year of extended warranty. Your phone has one year on it and the other year means you get free repairs for another year past that.

And as you're likely on a two year contract, by the time the warranty wears out you're looking to get the new iPhone anyway.

Sounds like a bad battery. Get the battery replaced. I'm amazed at how little young people know about the technology they use every day.

Edit: do you think a little flag should pop up that says "battery going bad in 3 months?" They FAIL, Sometimes quickly. Next time buy a phone with a user replaceable battery. To my knowledge no Android phones require a technician to replace a simple battery.

When you buy a phone because all your lemming friends think you should, this is what happens.
