My iPhone says to connect to iTunes, but nothing comes up. What do I do?

Ok so I have an iPhone 4S, and I recently updated to the newest iOS 7 (I honestly can't remember the number but it's the newest one) and I decided to restore since there was so much data, I couldn't sync my music in through iTunes.

I was waiting for a good fourty minutes and nothing comes up so, stupidly I disconnected my iPhone from the computer. I'm guessing that was the main problem.

However, my iPhone still shows the sign where it has the charger pointing to the iTunes symbol.

So I updated the iTunes on my computer to the newest version, 11.1.4? (I'M Really NOT GOOD WITH REMEMBERING NUMBERS BUT IT'S THE NEWEST ONE)

You may have to reset your phone but try to connect it back to iTunes first or press and hold power key

As iPhone and iTunes are both Apple products, give Customer Services a call. Look up the version numbers of iOS and iTunes before you call them.
