My iPhone won't play through my alpine radio?

So I got and alpine ute42bt for Christmas and installed it myself. The radio works fine and sounds great but then I tried to connect my iPhone 4 via USB an it connects, says what song is playing and everything but no music will be playing no matter how high the volume is up. I then tried the auxiliary cable and it doesn't even read my phone. Then I tried to connect it via Bluetooth and it will say its pairing and then my iPhone will say pairing unsuccessful. I then tried it with my iPod touch and my friends iPhone 4S and they both did they same thing. Is this a product malfunction or am I doing something wrong?

Are you putting the head unit on aux? Could be a faulty head unit.

  • Will an iPhone 5 with iOS 7 work on an Alpine iDA-X305S head unit? I own an Alpine iDA-X305S head unit which is iPod/iPhone compatible, it allows me to control the music (and Pandora internet radio) from the unit. I'm looking forward to upgrade my iPhone with iOS7, but I would like to know if there's some kind of compatibility issue with the head unit and this new OS. Since the unit doesn't have a CD playback, losing compatibility with the head unit would practically leave me with FM and USB flash drive capabilities in my car.
  • What are those things that let you play music through the radio in your car? I got my sisters old car and it's older so it doesn't have a way for an iPhone to connect to it. She used to have this thing that you could put into the cigarette lighter (or the little power thing) and you could connect your iPhone to it and the songs would play over the radio but it broke so I want to buy a new one and I don't know what they're called.
  • Play songs on iPhone through radio? There used to be this little thing you plugged up to your iPod and put your radio on a certain station and you can listen to the music on your iPod through the radio, is there any way to do this with an iPhone without that little thing?
  • Iphone through radio in 2004 chevy malibu? How could i have my music through my car from my iPhone without using fm modulators… I'm willing to install an aux port or other modifications… I have no tape player just two power ports and a cd player
