My iPhone won't show up on iTunes. How do I fix this?

I used to have an iPod Touch 5th Generation, but i just upgraded to an iPhone 5C. With my iPod, I connected fine, but now I can't connect my iPhone 5C. I used both cords (the new one with the iPhone and the old one with the iPod), yet it won't work.

My computer can see the iPhone, but iTunes can't. I tried the diagnostics, but it won't work. I need help! I want to be able to sync my music to my iPhone, but i can't without connecting it to iTunes first. How do I connect it to iTunes?

I will only reinstall iTunes ONLY if necessary… My music is mixed up and I took a lot of time to organize it on iTunes. I don't want to do that AGAIN, but I will only if necessary.

Added (1). ITunes is up to date (11.1). I made sure. I might be asking for help, but i know all iOS 7 devices can only connect to iTunes 11.1.

You got to update iTunes. Download the new software for iTunes an you'll be able to connect with your phone. That's exactly what I'm doing right now

Take your iTunes to Specsavers

1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPhone. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPhone.
2. Check the USB cable
3. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
4. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
5. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job like iTool.
6. Check for third-party software conflicts.

  • Why won't my iphone show up on itunes? I have the old ITunes, I haven't had a chance to update yet. I just downloaded some songs and want to put them onto my iPhone 5. I have never had this problem before, but my iPhone is plugged in and shows up on my documents on the computer, but I can't get it to come up on iTunes? Any Ideas?
