My IPhone won't sync with my itunes on my new laptop?

I bought a new laptop recently and my iphone won't sync with it.

The computer is authorised and I'm using the same iTunes account on my laptop as my phone, it does detect the phone but when I try to sync it nothing happens, it finishes in a few seconds and nothing has changed on either device.

I haven't tried restoring my phone to it's factory settings yet because I'm hoping there's another option?

Here's a trip I discovered a while ago. Do you use you're other device for syncing too? If not then just copy the "iTunes" folder in "Music" library from the old device to the new one. Then you should be able to sync without problems.

I never sync.instead my iTunes is set for manual management of music and video. I almost never have problems putting music on my iPod and obviously much fewer than those complained of in questions like yours which are posted here in the thousands. The only time I really have problems putting music on my ipod is when I update my iTunes and then forget to restart my computer. You need to restart your computer after updating iTunes. My guess is that when you I installed iTunes your were then prompted to update it but didn't restart afterwards.

Manual management is just clearly superior in every way and it works on iPods and other devices both new and old. I've tried it on first generation nanos and iPhone 5
