You won't look cool with a phone that old. (iPhone 4 released June 24, 2010, iPhone 4s released October 14, 2011) Do the 4s, it's slightly less old. If you can find a good condition iPhone SE, that would be better.
Older phones are vulnerable to security problems.
I don't think an iPhone 4s is going to make you look cool but the 4s is a better phone in my opinion so for that reason you should go with a 4s. If your mummy has a few extra dollars to spare and being cool is the goal, you may want to try and talk her into getting you the latest model. 4s would be better than 4. However, Apple is not updating and is only giving limited support {some apps may not install} to any of the 4 series. The iPhone 5s was the lowest phone to get the iOS 11 upgrade. If you are restricted to 4 or 4s, get the 4s. However, you should get at least a 5s in the Apple World or simply get an android device if you want something that runs a modern phone operating system.
