My router isn't letting me connect to online game servers?

I have had this issue for a while now and it has been bugging me for ages. I have a net gear router, I can connect to Wi-Fi on my iPhone and macbook and the internet is fast and quick on my pc, but when i try to play games like Team Fortress 2, which requires me to connect to other online servers in order to play, it will work for the first 5 - 10 minutes and then give me a "no internet games responded to the query," notification. On my playstation 3, i will get disconnected from my router for no reason. People have been telling me it has to do with my firewalls but i have allowed full access of these programs with my firewall. I'm not much of a tech person, so it would be nice to have it as simplified as possible.

For a quick test you coild try disabling the firewall and see if the issue persists. If it works correctly then there are some ports that are not opened correctly on the firewall.

CAUTION: I would not recommend extended use with the firewall disabled. Only long enough to determine if it the cause.

  • Why isn't iTunes letting me add music to my iPhone 5? I added a bunch of songs that were on my mom's computer earlier today and they all transferred fine, but i still had more songs on MY computer so i went to transfer them but they're not letting me. I connected my iphone and registered it to the computer just like i did on my mom's computer but every time i dragged the song from the library to the phone it wouldn't transfer. It just didn't do anything when i dragged it.

Just wanted to know the difference between a cheap router and an expensive router, I know that is a very broad question, I'm just a bit confused on how a router works. Does it increase my Internet speed on multiple devices? I get 50Mb per second, Well at least that's what I pay for. I have a PS3 two iPhones and a tablet, as well as a desktop PC that is wireless. Can anyone recommend an excellent router under $150
