My Samsung Portable SSD T5 500GB is damaging my pdf files?

At my job I work with a lot of PDFs and I do all my work on either a flashdrive or icloud so I can have access to it across device. I bought my SSD hoping to help me do that even better but now it seems to be damaging my pdf files. I would do some editing one day. Eject it, unplug and then the next day some of the pdf files become damaged.

Added (1). I'm using the SSD cross-platform Mac and Windows. It seems to be only be happening to pdf files

Sounds like a big problem. Try testing it with some other documents, data, music, videos to see if the issue is specific to PDF or all files.
It is very odd that the Portable drive is corrupting files. What platform are you on? Windows? MacOs? Something else?

Maybe after the data is copied onto the drive, see if it will open from the drive. If it opens properly then eject/unplug and then reconnect a bit later and see if the data is still intact.

It is possible you may have just lost the silicon lottery. Some drives come off the assembly line defective. It is unavoidable, just need to hope that the company is doing adequate quality testing. Even a basic warranty is for about a year so you should be able to get a new one either from the store where you bought it or from the manufacturer themselves.

Another thing to look out for is to make sure that you properly eject the drive. File corruption most commonly occurs when A drive is removed while it is still writing or reading data. Make sure to properly eject the drive and wait for Windows to tell you that it is safe to unplug the device.

PDFs are not designed to be edited.
that being said, if you are using Acrobat it shouldn't damage files. Try saving to a second location temporarily. You might also consider reformatting the SSD. If it still has issues, return it and exchange.

If it is damaging the pdf and not other files copied to it and modified it could be a bug in the software being used to modify the pdf. Or if its damaging all files that are modified on the drive it could be a bad driver or a bad/defective drive.

You can't edit pdf files without actual adobe acrobat (the full program NOT the reader)
(any pdf editing software will need the original files the pdf was created from if you want to edit the text in it)

you can import a pdf file into a word processor and edit that, BUT
1) you can only add text -
you can't edit the text that was in the pdf file - cos the word processor imports pdf files as a "picture" not as "text"

2) when you save the file in pdf format you save it as a "picture" - not as "text"

(there's a fix

do an OCR on the pdf file to convert it into text file
Edit the text file in a word processor (you will be able to add and edit the text that was in the pdf file
Output it in pdf format
If there are pictures in the pdf file then you will need to identify them in the OCR process so that the software knows they are pictures and will add them into the final text document
(if you set the OCR program to output to a good word processor then the processor should put them in the correct position relative to the text. If not you might have to output each picture separately and add them into the wordprocessor document manually
I got free OCR software with a scanner - Its abbyy finereader- Its an older version but its BRILLIANT)

(technically the output aint text any more - its a "picture" outputted in pdf format - so you can't input it and edit it as a text file
you wanna edit it a 2nd time you have to go through the OCR process again
