Need USB to play music in 2012 Lancer. How can I get it?
I bought a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer recently but it doesn't have a USB port to be able to play music and charge my iPhone. (Music is the most important part).
What are my options for getting one?
I noticed you might have to pay like 600+ dollars to get the whole sound system replaced. I'm hoping there are cheaper options so any tips would be appreciated.
If you want a really cheap option try buying an iTrip. It's the old style goes through a selected radio station and plugs into the power source to charge your phone. I find its not too bad with interference etc and will cost about $100 from jbhifi.
Otherwise go and have a chat to autobarn or supercheap auto etc. They can fit a new stereo that maybe has the usb port. New head units are pretty cheap these days and they only charge 80-90 to fit them.

- My car head unit charges via USB but won't play music? I bought a Dual XDM260 head unit for my 2000 Chrysler LHS. When i plug my iPhone 5 in via USB it charges and the USB mode pops up then quickly changes to auxiliary. The manual says that the unit is capable of doing such a thing but for some reason won't. Is there anything I can do?
- My 2015 Chrysler 200 won't play my iPhone music when connected by USB? The funny thing is when connected it brings up the songs title, artist, etc. And even shows the song is playing based on the time elapsed in the song. But no music is playing from the speakers. My Bluetooth works fine with playing the same music from the same device.
