Not receiving texts on new iPhone 5? - 1

I just got an iPhone 5 yesterday, and I'm having trouble receiving texts. I can send them without any trouble, but when it comes to getting them, I get them way after they're sent. People get my messages right away, but I don't get theirs for awhile and they think I'm ignoring them. This doesn't happen to anyone in my family when we're at home, so I don't think it's the reception, and I have bars and service. I tried turning my phone on and off and sending test messages to myself and it isn't working. What should I do and why isn't it working?

Call your service provider and ask them to to send updated settings to the phone.

Usually the network detects when you switch phones and automatically sends a system text with updated settings - but not always.

You should get a text message from them that fixes things ones it has been opened.

Adding to what Robert J has said, you should also try resetting your network settings and then do a complete reboot by powering your iPhone off completely and turning it back on.

Before resetting your settings ensure you have your Wi-Fi passwords handy.

You can reset your network by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

The problem lies with your Message Centre Number. Call the customer care of your network provider and tell them of your problem. Then they'll tell you that the problem will be solved within a few days. Better, If you can go to a customer care shop of the network you are using and tell them physically, they'll solve the problem. Only they'll try some tweaks, and done! This problem is solely network dependent, and I believe they are the only ones who can help you efficiently.
