On an iPhone, how do I take a good picture of Christmas lights?

I want to take a good shot, but in the picture I see blots of light where the bulbs are, due to the light emitting from the lights.

Touch and hold the light on the screen and it will darken the picture, then click options and turn HDR on. Hopefully that works.

Have you tried taking the picture from a distance? That, or change the lighting in your room.

I believe you're referring to camera shake. Since we often take photos of Christmas lights in the dark, the camera has to use a long exposure in order to let enough light in. In that case, it's impossible even for an expert to hold their hand steady enough for a proper photo.

Try propping your phone up on a table. (Make sure it can't accidentally fall off!) If you're outside and don't have a table, try to make your hand as steady as possible by resting it against a tree, car, fence, or other stable object. You should also use the phone's timer to take the photo, because even pressing the button to take the picture can cause the phone to move too much. (I don't know if the phone comes with a timer, but if not - "there's an app for that".) If you can, hold your breath while you're taking the photo - but remember to breathe in between shots

  • Is the camera on the iPhone 5s good enough for northern lights? I'm heading to the north of Sweden for a few weeks in January hoping to see the northern lights. I was going to buy a camera but I'm upgrading to the iPhone 5s this week and have heard good things about the camera, so I'm wondering if I should just use it and spare further expense. Anyone taken photos of the northern lights with an iPhone 5s?
  • Iphone app that controls lights? I heard there's an app where you can control the lights on your iphone if you forgot to turn them off at home. However, I heard some apps you actually need to pay for the service if its Lutron or whatnot. Some apps are free but you have to order some other service thingy. Is there a free app that just requires Wi-Fi and no electronic charge all around the house?
  • Interior lights on car not working? I have a 2000 volvo c70 and I blew a 15a fuse put a 30a in and everything worked fine. I already had a little neon plugged in my other cigerette liter, and I plugged a iPhone charger in and it all shut off. My sunroof can't even work, the fuse isn't blown either. Any suggestions?
