On the iPhone 5 I can't check how much lte I used?

You can check on your account online or via the AT&T app. The device should also have a built-in system that counts data usage in the Settings app.

AT&T's system doesn't update accurately. It takes hours for it to update, so I would rely more on the phone's built-in counter than online with your account.
