Paying Early Termination Fee (ETF) for iPhone 5 and factory unlocking it later?

Hi! I wanted to know about Early Termination Fee for my iPhone 5 since i'm travelling soon.

Can i terminate my contract and factory unlock it later?
And Are there any problems with cancelling my contract since i'm not going back to US?

You have to talk to your carrier, but some will allow you to terminate early, others will require you to pay out the contract. You can factory unlock it any time with services like iPhoneUnlockedCheap.com but you still have to honour any contracts you have, it will still be unlocked and you can use any SIM

  • What will happen if I don't pay my termination fee? So I have an 2 iPhone 6's and an iPhone 5s combined have a total etf of like $1300 and I'm not paying that. I planned to sell the phones to try to pay it off but what if I sell it to an AT&T customer? (Phones came from AT&T) can they just pop their SIM card in and the phone will work since it's locked to att?
