Personalized iphone 5 case a good or bad anniversary gift?

Me and my boyfriends two year anniversary is coming up and he is difficult to shop for. His birthday is a week after our anniversary and i got him concert tickets for that. He always buys himself everything he wants so i never know what to get him. He was supposed to get a brand new iphone 5 for his bday although he already has one. I got a personalized iphone case that says "forever & always" on it and a stylus pen that says " love you" on it, at things remembered for him for our anniversary. Is that a bad gift? I'm a horrible gift buyer and i feel like i always get him.things he doesn't really care for

No offense I don't think a guy wants a forever & always phone case or a love you stylus pen it's a bad gift just buy him a gift card or take him to a nice dinner but if you want to get him a phone case maybe a picture of you two together on the case
