Can i get a phone if my contract hasn't ended?

So my dad got me a phone last year and it was on contract. I was doing pretty well in school so they agreed they would buy me an iphone 5, but the contract doesn't ended till next year in November. And i want one this year because my phone lags and freezes up, i honestly can't stand it.

Yes you can if you have a written contract
But it also depends on the laws of your country

Yup, you can move your SIM to a new phone that you own at any time. You will have to continue to pay for the old phone until the contract is up though. Once your contract ends, remember to switch to a SIM only deal (and watch your payments fall through the floor!).

Some providers allow a new phone once per year. Check with your provider to see if they do.

Looking at this from a mere cost perspective, its a lot smarter to buy out of the contract, unless you are with T-Mobile. Contract buy out is in most cases $200. Then one can begin a new contract - this new contract allows the customer to choose a phone at a discounted price.

As mentioned in previous posts, MSRP for an iPhone will run between $600 to $800 depending on the model. That is already three to four times the cost of buying out of a contract.

A new contract after all fees, including the discounted cost of the phone will be in the range of $150 to $250 (ATandT 16GB 4S and 5 models). The total cost of contract buy out and starting a new contract puts you between $350 to $500, still under the retail cost of an iPhone.
