Phone's broken. Can I still upgrade to an iPhone?

I've been planning on getting an iPhone 5S this Christmas because I can upgrade this year, only problem is that about 20 days ago my current phone's screen broke so the screen is completely useless. Thank God I've already backed up all my contacts and pictures, but can I still upgrade with my phone being an entirely white screen? I have Verizon by the way. Will I have to like call the service provider so they can deactivate my phone or can it all be done online? (I can still call on my phone because I've memorized the keypad)

Unless you are willing to terminate your current contract early then no you won't be able to upgrade early. Luckily, if you have mobile insurance on your phone that will cover the damage to that phone then you can get a replacement phone until it is time for you to upgrade your phone. Early termination fees are around $300-350… Not fair at all! And with mobile insurance there's an average deductible that is on average $200… Also not fair! But, I guess its better than paying almost $500-$800 for a new phone! GOODLUCK!
