Playing video game 8+ hours a day? WHat the hell?

My husband recently started playing a game on his iphone. He was having difficulty seeing the images and I thought I should buy him a small ipad for a gift. I'm sorry I did. He is now playing 8 hours ++ a day. He is disabled. Sits on the couch in his pajamas and just plays all hours, day and night. Before he would at least get his backside to the market for food, we're lucky if he runs out for coffee at this point. He took this ipad on vacation with us and all he did was play play play. My own familiy asked if he is addicted… It's not healthy, but short of breaking the ipad what can I do?

I have asked him to put it down, but he gets very resentful. Is it wise to just get dressed and leave him in the house while I do my normal errands, and literally IGNORE him? Thats what I feel like doing. Advise.

Well, you should ground him until he moves

You sound like a good woman, maybe you can dress sexy for him, maybe that way he will turn his attention away from the games and to you, you gotta EASE him into something you want him to do, you can't be direct with him, there's going to have to be some manipulation your gonna have to do in order to get what you want, maybe try giving him some type of reward, and reward him for good behaviour everytime he does something good, eg. Cook his favourite dish if he goes to the market get it?

Just pull the plug on the net

When he's asleep - take his iPhone and iPad and hide them (turn them both completely off first). When he gets up and can't find them… Just act like you don't know what he's talking about and help him look but do NOT look where you have them hid. After you've both looked and can't find them - just leave him be for a while and then ask him to help you with something - anything to get his mind off of them and busy doing something productive. If he finally says he wants to buy replacements… Just tell him you don't have the money.

He's found something to engross him.

Unless it's actually affecting his health or he's neglecting other ahem "duties" then I wouldn't worry too much about it.

He's disabled as you say and really hasn't got much else to do. Maybe dress a bit sexy and give him something else to "play" with.
