Sad because I didn't get any Christmas presents?

I really don't think I should be not happy for not getting anything for Christmas. I have a phone (mind you not something expensive like an iPhone), and a cheap old laptop which works. My mom is a single mother and my brother is in first year university. My brother has an expensive laptop ($1300) an iPhone and now he got a new iPad air ($700). He says he needed the laptop a year ago for university when the year started (it now has), and now he says he needs an iPad for taking notes… Which is what he said the laptop was for… My mother does what she can, we're not rich but, we have a roof over our heads and food to eat. I have a phone and a laptop that works. I don't know why I feel down about not getting any presents because I really don't need anything else… Maybe its just because I see my brother getting anything he asks for (if he says its for "school").

Hunny. The meaning of Christmas is not to get presents. Christmas is about the celebration of Christ's birth. The three wisemen brought gifts for Mary and Joseph as a "welcoming gift" of baby Jesus. You have a phone. You have a laptop. You have food. Shelter. Water. And a mother that's trying her best to keep food on the table, a roof over your head and water in your glass. Be grateful for the things you have (that so many kids at your school don't even have) rather than mourning over the things that you don't have. I promise if you focus on the things you have rather than the things you don't, you'll be so much happier.

You wouldnt have liked living in my house growing up. My parents spent our birthday and christmas money on homeless/needy children. The only time we got new toys was after working chores (scrubbing horse stalls and spraying the hog slop out of the hog stalls). If we wanted new clothes, we had to wait until the start of the school year. I could never be on any sports teams because they charged us for uniforms. Get the picture yet? Your NOT a victim here. There are many more people way worse off than you. Get a job, and quit whining.

Get a job, and earn money for things that you want.

Aww! You just need some love from your mom right now. Your mom loves you and your brother. Your brother is in college and she wants him to do well so that he doesn't struggle with money like she has. When you get to that important time of your life she'll probably be focusing on you and giving you anything you need. You are lucky to have a laptop and cell phone. Your lucky to have your mom!

Your mom would give the gift to you too if you were your brother who wants the thing for study. Don't be sad!
