Should a Graphic Designer learn iOS programming?

I'm going to college for Graphic Design and found a intro to iOS programming class. The class shows the basics of designing applications for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The course will also have the basic introduction to HTML, CSS, Javascript and Objective C language. And in the end the student will earn a CiTE certificate. I've never done anything like this before, which is why I'm not sure if it is relevant or useful for a future Graphic Desiger like me to learn.

Well in my opinion, as a graphic designer, you put designs together like say a brochure (of course among the many other things you do.)

An iOS app would be like a moving brochure with different parts. You already have the skill to make an appealing layout of info. Learning to program it can't be a bad thing.

Plus HTML/CSS/JavaScript? As a graphic designer these things could push you over to web designer, big business if you ask me.

Don't be too scared about all the stuff you'll have to learn. Because it can be pretty easy. All programming languages are basically the same. With the different types you just have to learn the specific "grammar and punctuation" so to speak.

And if you get a certificate, it's great to be able to have something to show for it.

I almost have to ask if this is a trick question. Lol.
