Should an 11year old already have an iPhone?

I have seen a bunch of little kids having an iPhone already!

Children of that age have no business with such technology. But with so many stupid parents out there, what do you expect?

I didn't get a phone until i was 12 and hell i'll probably never have an iPhone. I got my iPod on my 13th birthday and paid for it myself.

Kids. They want to be like everyone else

I don't think 11 year olds are old enough to appreciate the use of a good smartphone. At that age they only need a basic phone which allows them to talk and text. Plus smartphones and Iphones are very expensive so it's not worth spending it on a phone they won't really do much with apart from probably show off. In my opinion kids with expensive phones at that age are spoilt.

I think its good they learn about technology, plus it gives them a way to text you or call you anytime of the day. I know some that don't want their kids to have an phone yet so they get an ipad so they can still use that for texting friends or learning about it, where you can supervise that way.

I don't think its right for kids to have such expensive things at that age, I only got a proper phone last year. Although some kids have more responsibility than others; most kids won't take care of their stuff very well and if they must have a phone, they should have one with only the necessities.

Then again, phones such as an iPhone could be seen as much as a games console as a phone, so why stop them from having one? No one would stop a kid buying an Xbox?
