Should apple supply me with a new iphone?

Ok so i was sitting on the toilet playing bloons tower defnse with my phone between my legs in which i dropped it. This was less than a 1 foot drop. And the screen started dimming out then it turned blue and the display turned off. Then it statred getting really hot and it wount turn off. Now it won't work.

Ok so its 85 days over warrentry but my question is, is the a faulty iphone? Was this a bad egg they sold me a non proporally built iphone, NO iphone should have broke under a foot drop. Do you think thers a thing were i ca get a refund or a new phone>?

If the warranty is up they have no obligation to you, maybe you should of been smart and bought a good case for it.

Contact apple and see what they say if it's out of the warranty hard to get them to do anything for you unless complain a lot, i really think the main thing that would happen to tell you a good apple repair shop to have it fixed

I'm sure if you explain to them that you dropped in 1 foot and it started acting up they should give you a new one. I went to the apple store because my ipod touch 4g had a white spot on the side and it was slightly noticeable sometimes but they happily gave me a new one just like that.

Have you ever been to a store and seen a sign "You break it, You bought it!"?

Dropping it a foot or 6 ft doesn't really matter. You dropped it.
And it is out of warranty.

Does Apple have any sort of guarantee regarding how much of shock/drop the phone should be able to take?

All you can do is try, given that it is out of warranty. Go to an Apple store or perhaps someone who works in customer relations will be able to help.

There's a reason that I will purchase accidental damage protection on laptops and phones. They damage too easily, are devices one intends and expects to use in a mobile environment, and repair costs can cost as much as a replacement. Those are the only things I purchase extended warranties on. The rest of the time those are pretty much a waste for the consumer and a major source of profit for the retailers.

IPhones, Apple MacBooks and Tablets, are not any more resistant to damage than other brands. From the reports I have seen, the Macbooks break easier when dropped.

Even under warranty, if not paying extra for an accidental damage policy, dropping a phone is not under warranty.
https://www.apple.com/.../warranty/
Let's say iPhone 5 USA:
https://www.apple.com/...glish.html
This Warranty does not apply: <…> (d) to damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, liquid contact, fire, earthquake or other external cause.

You can ask them to fix or replace it, but they don't have to do it for free.
You can complain on message boards, buy a different brand, or appeal to their customer service, but whether in or out of warranty, dropped phone is a dropped phone, and they do not have to repair it.
That's why some people add rubber covers and screen protectors to try to minimize damage, or buy phone insurance.

You dropped it on a hard surface, don't act like you know what should or shouldn't happen when you don't take care of it. Go drop your computer on the sidewalk outside, then bring it in and plug it in and see how well it works. Next time, take better care of things.
