Should I buy a Mac-Air or Microsoft based ultrabook?

I need a new laptop and debating between Apple based laptop such as Mac-Air, or Microsoft based laptop.

I want an ultrabook that is fairly light.

I've always used Microsoft computers except my phone is an iPhone and I have couple of iPads.

My only concern with Mac-Air is that some applications that I'm used to on Microsoft won't run on Apple computers.

Any advise?

Microsoft.

Consider your budget. For the price of new Mackbook you can buy a cool Windows laptop and a ticket to Hawaii. If you are used to Windows, Mac will be a butthurt -- with its Return and absence of Ctrl button, impossibility to customize anything, mostly proprietary software, itunes, and all that other horrible junky software… The only reason to buy Mac might be the need for Retina display, but it's seldom really needed

I would suggest you to go for Microsoft. Mac-Air is good and it has its own strengths like Light wait, security, excellent display etc, however Mac never allow you to upgrade or customize the system. And if you are a first time user to Mac, you will find difficulties in working with the applications. Mac keys and windows are aligned just opposite to Microsoft and entirely different too. And yes some of the applications that run on Microsoft will not run on Mac.
Finally the budget; that's up to you. If you wish to spend money for a computer that does not allow you PLAY with it, then go for Mac. And if you need a computer which is user friendly, then go for Microsoft.

Apple lovers, kindly excuse me, its my personal opinion.

MacBook Air easily. You might be able to get a pc with the same components for £100 less, but a Mac will last way longer, stay as fast as when it's new and is much easier and simpler to use. Once you get a Mac, there's no going back.

  • What's the difference between MAC airport extreme and air port express? I have Wi-Fi but I do not have internet because I need a modem. Which air port should I get for my laptop, apple tv and iphone?
  • Should I buy the iPhone 5 or Macbook Air? So I'm saving to get one of them but I'm not sure which one! I already have a phone but it's the Nokia C3-00 so it's quite old and I've had it for about 2 1/2 years now. I don't have my own laptop but I share one with my mum and I can use it after school only and I can't take it to school because she uses it for work. (The laptop is an HP laptop not an Apple product.) I also have an iPad Mini.
