Should I/can I run more than one day in a row?

I'm a pretty-beginnerish runner starting interval training with an iPhone app to run a 10k, and it seems to be working pretty well; however, the workouts are spaced out to every three days, which kind of stinks because I actually want to run. If I run too soon, is the theory here that I won't be giving my body time to rest up and repair for the next workout?

A day off should be okay but if you are just starting then maybe two days off is best. After a couple of weeks you can do it every second day.
