Should I let my daughter take over my iphone 5s contract by putting it in her name?

I'm on benefits, have no savings in my bank account and now have two phone contracts. I was struggling to afford one contract but I was wanting the new iPhone 5s and the only way I could get my hands on one was to take out a second contract… Both contracts run until 2015.
Having the two contracts is £100 a month which is a lot of money when I only pick up £200 a fortnight in my benefits.
My daughter wants the iPhone 5s and has offered to have the contract for iPhone off me by my asking my network if I can have the contract put into my daughters name,& then i'd only have to pay for the one phone instead of two, so should I forget wanting an iPhone 5s as I can't even operate the thing apart from Talk & Text. I'm in my mid sixties so perhaps a bit old for iphones & i'm hopeless using Smartphones… I don't know how to use them properly and use all their features. My other contract isn't a smartphone, so should I see whether I can get the iPhone 5s contract changed over into my daughters name because by having two contracts in my situation it means we can't afford to eat and I've had ask for referral to a food bank but was declined because of been on job seekers allowance & that because I was wasteing my benefits on luxury items.

That might be a good idea it would build trust for the both of you.

If they are willing to do a name change yes.

If your daughter can afford the contract, then yes do ask the carrier if they can switch the contract to your daughter. But don't do it if she can't really pay for it.

If nothing else, you could sell the phone to raise a good portion of the contract cancellation fee (ask your carrier how much that would be).

P.S. I feel badly that you now can't afford to eat and can't get help from a food bank, but why on earth would someone on benefits and without savings go and get a new fancy phone with a new contract, when they already had another phone and another contract? You need to do a better job managing the money you do have.

Not again - another new identity, another tale of woe about phones and doubtless more references to your pesky hamster!

Get a life and stop spamming here.

This looks a familiar tale, albeit you seem to have a new identity and a daughter rather than two out of work sons…

Instead of transferring the contract to your daughter, get her to buy your food.

You will not be able to transfer a contract.their only option is to close with penalty and reopen a new one with the accompanying activation fees. We just tried that.

  • Should I text her or snap her or not? Ok so this girl I haven't seen in a while texted me out of no where asking if I was going to an event and I responded telling her yeah probably she then responded back saying probably depending on blah blah but then it went to imessage when I texted her twice and no response I think she thinks I stalked her for her number even though I got my contacts transferred from my broken galaxy to my iPhone instead. What should I do?
  • Should I let her buy me an iPhone for Christmas? My girlfriend of 2 months has offered to buy me a 64GB 5s (under contract) for Christmas, but I feel slightly uncomfortable with this. We're both 22 and like each other very much, but isn't it too early for a gift this expensive?
  • My mam took out her iphone 4 under contract with t-mobile and her screen was smashed? She does not have insurance and the phone is under a year old, she took the contact out in january 2012. does anyone know if the apple store will fix the screen?
