Should I pay the full amount for an iPhone or do a plan?

My friends an I are arguing I need to know

It depends upon how often you want to upgrade your phone. If you are someone who always wants the latest technology then pay the full amount so that you are free to buy the newest phone. It's expensive but if you always want the latest and the greatest phone that's the way to go.

On the other hand if you don't mind waiting a couple of years to upgrade your phone there's a significant subsidy provided by the carrier.

It's up to you to decide what is most important - Low cost or cutting edge technology.

  • Why do we have to pay full price to replace a lost sprint iphone? My bestfriend is on a plan with her boyfriend and she lost the phone. Today she had to pay 728 to get a new one. I know that sprint does not cover lost phones but why can't we pay regular price to replace the lost ones
  • Why do I have to pay full price for T- Mobile iPhone 5? Ok so I went to the tmobile store to upgrade my old basic phone for the new iPhone 5 16gb and the rep told me that I had to pay the full cost ($579, i believe). On the ad it shows $99 for the 16gb! The plan I have right now is the Shared Classic Unlimited-Talk + Text, so I don't know if the plan is the problem or what? I also have no data added. Maybe that's why. Anyways if someone could help me I would really appreciate it.
  • What's a good amount of songs I should have on a 16g iPhone 5? How many songs is a good amount on a 16g iphone 5? A good amount where it won't slow down or not have enough room for other things.
  • Should I buy an iPhone on a plan or should I pay for the full price upfront? What are pros and cons? To be honest I want to pay for it upfront because buying it on a plan feels like I'm just renting it. I want to feel like I actually own the phone. But everyone in my family is on a plan and they say it's cheaper because they get free texts and stuff. I don't know what to do? I know, first world problems but please help me. Plan or upfront?
