Should I set up a gmail or icloud acct?

I'm SUPER non-techy so I need help from all you who are. I had an android phone, just switched to a iphone because I got it for a great price. Question is, should I get a gmail account to store all my contacts and info on, or is icloud better? I'm asking because I never know if I'll switch back to an android someday, and it seems like I can't use icloud on android, but I can gmail, right? So I'm afraid if I got an icloud, i couldn't sync my contacts and info onto an android like I could with gmail. On the other hand, everyone keeps saying how great icloud is. I'm pretty simple, want to just set up one account. Let me know your thoughts.

I think icloud's security doesn't seem to be that good. If anything google is easier to sync universally across all phones like you said. You can save your contacts on your sim card too as backup so if you switch phones you can get someone at Tmobile/Verizon/At+T etc. Do just do a sim transfer if your next phone uses a different type of sim card. Also, I personally would never get an iphone unless it were free and even then i know the galaxy is way better.

Gmail is way better. Loads more free storage where in icloud you only get 5GB (not very much)
