Should I Take The Sim Card Out Of iPhone?

I bought this iPhone about a year ago from someone off eBay and it already has an existing SIM card in it with no problems. I sold the iPhone 4s on eBay today and I thought I would just leave it in for the next person to use. I already cancelled my number and transferred it to a new SIM card so the other one should be blank now right?

You are not supposed to sell the SIM with the phone. That's yours as it contains your number which you pay for through your carrier. So you made the same mistake as the person that sold you the phone.
