If Face ID fails, you can still unlock it via your passcode. It is literally the same mechanic as Touch ID, you're not forced to use it and you're not locked out because you can't use Touch/Face ID.
As for that "fail", it wasn't a fail. You'll notice there was a message that pops up saying he needed to enter his passcode first before Face ID would be enabled, this happens when you power on the device, this same feature exists for the Touch ID already.
Reboot your iPhone (assuming you're not an Android troll) and then try to unlock your device with your finger print, notice it won't work? Enter your passcode, lock your device and now it will work. This is a security feature to stop people from forcing you to unlock your device via Touch ID if you managed to turn it off before hand. In iOS 11, you can also quickly tap the power button 5 times to disabled Touch/Facial ID as a quicker security method than powering off the device.

After a failed attempt to boot tethered my ios 6 semi-tethered jailbroken iphone4, my iphone has gone into recovery mode (as i think) and won't come out. I've tried a bunch of solution to get out of dfu mode, recovery mode, and others and nothing has done anything. As my observations has found out that the phone is not completely black so i presumed its in recovery mode. Please help me out.
