Someone stole my iPhone 5. What now?

I went to a gig in Wales (almost 200 miles away) and someone stole my iPhone 5 from my bag.
"Find my iPhone" won't work because my phones apparently offline so I'm guessing they've disconnected it or something. It's not insured.

I'm back home and cancelled the sim and ordered a new one. Will I have to buy a new iPhone or will they let me restart my contract? I don't have the money for a new one ):

No, you can't restart your contract. You getting your phone stolen is your issue, not theirs. You can get a new phone and use the existing contract.

Did you have iOS 7? They can't turn off find my iphone without your password and can't wipe it.

Find my iPhone won't work unless the phone is online. Keep trying though, it may show up later.

If you do have to replace your phone, you won't be able to start a new contract, instead your only options will be to either get a new phone (full price) or a used phone and connect it to your service, and your contract will be unchanged (same end date).

P.S. Even if you have iOS7, if the phone is offline, Find my iPhone still won't work. All iOS7 does is make it impossible to activate the phone again on new service unless they know your Apple ID password.
