Stolen iPhone, what do I do?

My iPhone 4S got stolen when I was in Paris just over a month ago and I filed a police report and everything, got a new sim sent to me. My insurance company said at the beginning that they couldn't give me a new phone because the phone I had has gone up in price. I explained the situation to them, they might be able to give me how much it used to cost but not the full price it is now.

That's fine. I was in contact with O2 a couple of weeks ago and they said I was entitled to an early upgrade at the end of April but 5 minutes ago I checked my account and it says I'm not entitled to an upgrade until April 2014 instead of April 2014:/

Don't know what to do because I have the new sim at home, not heard from the insurance company yet and I can't cancel my contract and just buy the new phone as there are still about 13 months remaining on my contract. What should I do!

Sorry if this is complicated, believe me, I'm confused myself haha!

It might cost money but you could try calling the Paris Police Station if you've got someone who can speak French, they might be able to help you find it.

Everytime you take your iPhone away from home, activate the Targeting/Location stuff (it's activated by default) once you have a house (because it costs some battery).

You can then go into someone's else iPhone/iPad/whatever, log into your Apple account, and use the location service.

If it was not activated, well, you paid for the lesson: s sorry

If I were you, I'd speak to a supervisor at the insurance company. It's their problem that the phone went up in price, not yours. You bought the iPhone 4s, you paid for the insurance, so you should get that same phone as a replacement. If they don't have the same phone available, then they should replace it with a comparable phone. If the price of the phone went up (which sounds really fishy to me), then that is their problem, not yours. Phone prices usually go down with time, not up. It seems as though they are just trying to avoid paying for a new phone. Don't let this go so easily, they owe you a new phone!

In the future, always use "Find My iPhone"

Phone the insurance company and ask what is going on? If you don't get the answers you are looking for ask to speak to the supervisor or manager and explain to them that you are unhappy with the service and may seek legal advise if the problem is not resolved.
I'm pretty sure you will be sorted out then but if you are not then maybe you could go to a free service like citizens advice centre and ask them what your next move should be.
If you don't have a citizens advice centre close to where you live maybe you can contact them by email or phone?
