Screen on my iphone 4 went white, how can i fix it without restarting?

I have an iphone 4. I went to open an app and it went to open then just went white. My power button is broke so i can't restart it. The home button works, however it will not get me off the white screen. Is there anything else i can do besides restarting or letting the battery die to get back to the home screen?
