Track someone down using iPhone?

Is there a way I can put some sort of device in a car and track the location of that device on my iPhone?

By "device" I don't mean an iPhone. Something that just gives off a GPS location to my iPhone.

The easiest way is to install an app on the other phone that reports its position on a web site and then use your iPhone to track it. There are several such apps available.

There are a wide variety of GPS tracking devices, most of which aren't terribly cheap, and also require a monthly fee
