Transferring music to iPhone?

I'm thinking of switching to an Apple iPhone from Android.

Is it easy to transfer music I already own to it?

I still have a MiniDisc and love it, the sound quality is amazing however I absolutely hate Sony's proprietary sonic stage system. I'm hoping Apple is not similar?

Can iPhone take other formats besides MP3? E.g. Wav and Ogg Vorbis?

I don't know about Wav and Ogg Vorbis.

I believe you need a PC or a Mac running iTunes to transfer MP3's to an i-anything.

I have not used iTunes for years but the old procedure was make one or more folders on your PC containing the music (and you should be prepared to leave them there - iTunes would later take songs OFF my iPod if iTunes could not find that folder and files I installed them from…).

When you have all of your music in the folders on the computer…

Open ITunes (which will probably require updates and other stuff)

a. Drag a folder of MP3's to the word Library in iTunes (they may have changed this way to do it - this is what worked a couple of years ago)

b. Wait a LONG time while iTunes chews on the songs and converts them to AAC or whatever format it uses…

repeat a. And b. For any additional folders of music
