Traveling to Europe: adapters and converters?

I'm leaving for Europe in just about a week and I want to make sure that I'll be able to use my curling wand, flat iron, and be able to charge my iphone, camera, etc. I'll be going to England, France, Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic. I have a DYNEX converter/adapter that has plugs for the UK and Europe. I have a CHI flat iron and I've been reading mixed reviews online about how you can only use that iron in North America, is this true? I also have the Remington 1 inch curling wand, will I be able to use that? And what exactly does dual voltage mean? Do I have to have dual voltage appliances for the appliances to work? I need to know if I have to go out and buy new hair tools before I leave, I don't want anything blowing up lol.

Check the tag on each appliance, if it says 110/220v you're good just with the input adapter. If it says 110v only, you'll need to use the converter.

Below is a good article I found to answer your question.

First of all, your trip sounds B. A! Second, you need to make sure the convertor is converting the power from the outlets over there from 220/240 to 110/120, and not just converting from one plug to another. The convertor should look like a little box, and most have a 110/220 switch on it somewhere. When I went overseas I got everything I needed from target and had no problems. Good Luck!

just checked the specs, you'll be fine.

Take 2 sets. One in your carry-on and one in your checked luggage. Things do happen. Also be sure to take a multi-port USB charging port. Most often a European hotel room will have ONE place for you to charge stuff. Your room key is used to turn the electricity on and must stay in the port designed for that.

Then you have to decide what you will do if you can't charge everything. What is your back-up power source and will it work in those places? Unless you are first or business class, you can't charge anything on the plane.

Don't worry about it Blondie.

Don't even bother bringing hair stuff. I've always had a hassle with those appliances. Not enough time to use them, too tired to bother, and the literally burn up when I try. My hair dryer almost started a fire in Norway last year…
Not to mention, adapters are questionable at best. I've had terrible luck. I bought a really nice one and it ended up electrocuting my boyfriend to where he had to go to the hospital.

  • What kind of power adapters and converters will I need to buy for my upcoming trip to Iceland? I'm coming from the USA, and I will only need to plug in my iPhone and my hair straightener. Links appreciated.
  • USA to UK Apple Adapter/Converters? I have a 13" Macbook with a 60W MagSafe Power Adapter and an iPhone 4 with the charger it came with. I'm going to the UK for a few months and I'm not sure what I need to buy so that I can use both of these items while I'm there. (If anyone knows WHERE to buy them at, that would also be great!)
  • Iphone Adapters in Car stereo? I was wondering what would word best a fm transmitter or a cassette adapter? Which has better sound quality. I have an iphone 5 so most of the fm transmitter only works with iphone 4. Where and what brand should I get it and the cost.
  • Iphone 7 plus charging cable & adapters issue? Look my charger can charge my phone no question but when a family member use it for the iphone 7 plus it charges slowly like snail likes slow or does not charge at all. its like vice versa when i use the charging cable any ideas why it does this is the cable faulty or the phones?
