TV image/sound issue with receiver?
I have a smart tv and just got a onkyo receiver to connect bose speakers - 5.1 setup. I get sound from my wireless system - iphone, pandora, etc., which is great. I got a PS3 connected and it works great. But when I attach my tv hdmi to the receiver and select TV, I get nothing. The tv plays on other source ports fine, but nothing when I choose that hdmi port from the receiver. I have an older smart tv I guess, so I attached the audio to the receiver with jacks just in case that was the prob. Still nothing. Then a friend tells me I also have to get a video optical cable? To attache the tv to the receiver or its a no-go. Is he right?
You have to use the audio out on the tv which would be the optical cable.
Or use the HDMI audio return channel if it's supported.
If your TV and your receiver have ARC capability then no you do not need an optical cable ARC will usually only work on one specific HDMI connection per component… Also ARC can't be daisy chained between more than two components. An HDMI port that has ARC will usually be marked that way and say ARC near the port… You can look in your manuals for ARC connections and which port works that way. Also both components have to have ARC or it will not work. I have an older Denon Receiver and it has ARC so its been around a while… But if not then you need the optical cable to get sound from the TV…
- Stream music from Iphone to home theatre receiver? I'm looking for an add-on component that will allow me to stream music stored on an Iphone or Ipad to a home theatre receiver. Please don't recommend a new receiver, not an option right now. Links to the item you recommend appriciated.
- JVC car receiver won't play iphone music through usb? I bought a jvc detachable face receiver for my truck and it will not play any of my music. It shows the track, the album artwork and the duration but it WLL NOT make a sound. Is there something i need to change on the settings? ( I have an iphone 5 but I've tried it with an iphone 4 and an iPod)
- IPhone 8's sound/volume issue? My iPhone for some reason this morning decided to act strangely. Whenever I watch a video on YouTube or play music I can barely hear any audio even when the volume is turned all the way up. The audio is very faint and low I can still hear whatever video or song I'm listening too but it's extremely low. If anyone knows a fix or solution to this issue please let me know! The earbuds are not plugged in either.
- IPhone 3GS doesn't tell me when the message has been read by the receiver? I think I might have missed the update. If you think that's what happened would you mind telling me how to receive this update?
