Unlock Iphone 4 from at&t Help?

Added (1). I have an old AT&T iPhone 4 from a friend of a friend, so there's no way I can get AT&T to unlock it for me. I want to use this internationally. I NEED AN EASY AND FREE Way TO UNLOCK THIS PHONE

I have done a ton of research and nothing seems to help!

If you bought it from Apple best buy or any other retail store that's not any of the cell company's sprint AT&T ect than you can take any SIM card and use it and if you are wondering why it's because ever single cellular company has a different form of 3G and if you buy them from apple or radio shack or whatever it is comparable with all the different types of 3GS so you can change them
