Unlocked iPhone 4 on Tmobile and won't receive texts?

I recently unlocked an iPhone 4 that was previously AT&T and now it is Tmobile. I'm able to call people and receive calls and facetime calls. I'm able to use iMessage and send/receive texts when connected to Wi-Fi. But when I step out of the house i'm able to send texts but don't receive them until i'm connected to Wi-Fi again. I tried turning the iMessage off because I do not have a data plan with this phone but I have Tmobile service so I should be able to send/receive texts and make/receive calls. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Leave the top Cellular Data APN 3-field section empty or you will have intermittent and weird iMessage behavior.

  • Will an unlocked iphone 4S work for tmobile if it isn't factory unlocked? I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.
  • Why won't my new iPhone 6 (AT&T) send or receive texts/calls? I activated it two hours ago and backed it up with the data and phone number from my old iPhone 4. Both phones now read AT&T and show cellular signal and data in the top left hand corner. But when you text or call my phone number, the iPhone 4 receives it. Why won't my new phone receive it?

But whenever I try and send a text they won't send. I also don't receive any messages either. Does anybody know why this is happening?
  • My new iPhone 5 won't receive some texts? I got it yesterday and I use bell. I'll only not get some of them but its still annoying and then I'll end up getting them like an hour later after they were sent! Why is this happening and how can I fix it?
