Unlocked iPhone 5 T-Mobile

I have a iPhone 5 that is unlocked by apple, my carrier is T-Mobile.
When I go to celluar in the options, it only gives me the option to turn on 3G.
I've read that the update IOS 6.1.3 changes the option from 3G --> LTE.
I have installed IOS 6.1.3 but the option still says 3G.

Only a true tmobile iphone 5 will get lte.
if you have a att, etc.connect to iTunes and update with the tmobile sim card in it.
it has been updating so lte work on some iphones.

You read wrong.

The update from iOS 6.1.2 to 6.1.3 is completely different than the carrier update that will allow unlocked iPhones to use LTE on T-Mobile.

Several days ago TMO issued a release saying that they were going to push a carrier update on 4/5/13, and everyone with unlocked iPhones on their network started drooling. It never came and TMO responded by saying that it wasn't coming and we'd all have to wait.

So, we wait.

When you get the update, you will no longer see the "Enable 3G" in settings. You will see "Enable LTE" instead.

Apple actually made a new model of the iPhone 5 that supports T-Mobile's network. The new model will work on T-Mobile's 3G, 4G, and LTE. So for any other iPhones, they will only work on slow speeds and won't have the full network support.

  • Will an unlocked iphone 4S work for tmobile if it isn't factory unlocked? I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.
  • Unlocked vs factory unlocked iphone? So I'm thinking about getting an iPhone but I wanted to know if I could take an unlocked iPhone to the Verizon store an them set it up for me? I have no clue what the difference between factory unlocked, unlocked, and locked iPhones are
  • Iphone 5s from T-mobile or factory unlocked iphone? I been trying to choose which iphone 5s to buy to use for metro pcs, but I ain't sure which one to get. I would get the factory unlocked but I don't if it would work with metro. Like would would I be able to use all the functions on it. Or would it be better to go with a t mobile iphone 5s? Is one better than the other? Besides being able to use any carrier on the unlocked iphone 5s.
  • If I Buy A Factory Unlocked/GSM Unlocked Iphone 5, Can I Use It With T-mobile? I'm not exactly sure what factory unlocked or GSM unlocked mean, but I just want to know If I can use the phone with T-mobile or if I'd have to switch carriers.
