Unofficially Unlocked iPhone?

I had my iPhone 4s unlocked by a third party and iOS 7 came out today! I was just wondering if I use iTunes to update my firmware if it will rest my unlock or even worse brick my phone! I don't care if it resets my unlock, I just don't want the apple logo of death!

I don't think it will brick the phone. It was one of those two options though. It will either fail or undo the jailbreak on the phone. If you want to keep the jailbreak, you will have to wait till 7 is cracked

You can't upgrade to the new IOS 7 because you had your phone unlocked. You have to restore it back to factory settings and lose everything in order to get IOS 7. If you didn't unlock your phone you could have upgraded and wouldn't have lost everything.

Just like android… If iOS was naturally unlocked by the subsidy device unlock code, then any OS update will not wipe the unlock nor brick the phone

if the OS was hacked unlocked, like a jailbreak or similar hack unlock via paid 3rd party website/service, then an OS update WILL wipe the unlock off. If it need to be re-unlocked. And if this was a paid serviec, you may need to re-pay them agian… As for bricking, it won't brick the phone. Major stock OS updates, iphone and android, factory reset the phone. Android does this by default. Iphone does it via itunes… This is done to prevent old code from overlapping onto new code

I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.

And the seller assured that it is factory unlocked and will work perfectly. I have non activated sprint sim card and when i inserted it in to the iphone it showed that "the iphone is not activated.contact the carrier". What does it mean?
