USB not recognized when iPhone is plugged in?

I just updated iTunes to 11.1.4 and now it doesn't recognize my iPhone4s when plugged in - I get USB not recognized. I had the problem also with iPad but it was recognized just not in iTunes. I re-installed the driver and now the iPad is fine. Since my computer doesn't even see recognize the iPhone I can't re-install the driver. I'm sure its possible but don't know how. Have searched all over and nothing is working - any suggestions?

It seems to be your synchronise cable issue, replace your Cable, and try again,
Or
Try with different ports of your computer.
Or
Clean your iPhone dock with hair dryer etc. Sometimes it occurs due to dust.

  • What happens to iPhone if USB cord wasn't fully plugged into phone? I often leave my iphone to charge overnight but recently I woke up and the phone said it was charging but it was at 10%. On further inspection, I saw that the USB cord was like half way into the power adapter. Is this damaging to the battery? I'm worried that my new 5S is damaged because the battery seems to drain about 10% faster.
