Using D batteries in series to make mobile charger?

I will be going somewhere where there's no lower.

However, I would like to be able to charge my mobile devices while there.

I was thinking Of using batteries (either AA or D) In series connected to a USB car charger to charge say my iPhone.

I know how to do this - however, my question is whether I should connect them to 12v or to 6v and why. Also, does this method sound effective to you? Do you have any idea how quickly I would go through the batteries (how many charges I would get out of them)?

If your mobile charger adaptor is designed for 12v input, then you need to have 12v from the batteries. That is inefficient, and if you want to jury rig an adapter, 6 volts from the batteries will work for a USB device. But i don't recommend either way. What i suggest is you look into getting a solar panel/USB adapter. Carrying around a couple dozen D batteries just to recharge an iphone is a lot of weight to lug around if you are back packing.

  • Should I buy the Series 4 Apple Watch, or just wait for the Series 5? I heard the Series 5 may be released around September 2019 but that may be wrong. What I really wanted to ask is this. Do I need to have cellular on my Apple Watch to be able to pair it with my iPhone? It's like $100 more and I just wanna be sure with that amount of money.
  • Iphone 5 shutdown even with batteries? So a while ago, i slipped on the stairs while i had my phone on the back pocket. Now it seems to shutdown everytime the batteries hit around 20-30 percents and the music/ipod would freeze and being unresponsive. How do I fix this? My warranty has expired already.
  • How fast do the defective iPhone batteries die? I'm just wondering what would be considered normal battery life/charge time and what would be considered defective battery life/charge time? I'm not sure if I'm affected or not?
