Using iPhone 4 as gps on road trip?

I'm driving from MN to FL, and plan on using my iPhone 4 as a gps (using the google maps app). The trip is long, over 24 hours, and I'm wondering if the phone could overheat? Also, would roaming charges incur? I have AT&T as a carrier.

The phone will not overheat, but you will need to keep it plugged into a car charger/adapter since it won't last long on just the battery, especially when using GPS and the screen constantly.

You probably also will want some kind of dash mount to keep the phone propped up someplace where you can easily see the screen without having to constantly grab it and look at it.

Whether or not you will pay roaming depends on your plan; you need to call AT&T and ask. With most plans you probably won't pay extra for roaming with data, but only AT&T can tell you for sure. You definitely will be using data all the time since the maps app will be loading new map data constantly.
