Video taken off of my iPhone X plays back on my MacBook choppy

I started taking some videos on my iPhone X (4k Quality) to throw onto my macbook and edit on Final Cut Pro X.

When i go to playback my video on my macbook the payback is extremly choppy.

So i have a 2011 MacBook Pro. The specs are:

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2011)
Processor: 2 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
raphics: AMD Radeon HD 6490M 256 MB
Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

I transfered the same video to a 2016 Macbook Pro, and to my surprise the playback was smooth. The Macbooks specs are:

MacBook Pro (13-Inch, 2016)
Processor: 2 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory: 8GB 1867 MHz LPDDR3
Graphics: Intel Iris Graphics 540 1536

Not sure if anyone here can help me pinpoint the problem.

I'd say the problem is your Macbook. 4K is demanding enough for a lot of pretty high end computers.

If you really want to edit 4k video smoothly on a laptop, you'll need to upgrade to a modern one.

  • Music only plays from back speakers? I use an Aux cord to plug in my Iphone. Recently the music only plays from the back speakers. Also in the past couple of weeks before the front speakers stopped working the volume on the music would go up and down. So maybe I need a new aux cord?
  • Iphone turns off when taken of the charger even though it is 100% charged? Hi, I have the iphone 4s which is less than a year old. My problem only started today and i don't know what's wrong. My iphone only turns on when the charger is plugged in. It shows 100% battery but still turns off. I have tried the hold the home button while turning on but still nothing happens. It records your voice and then plays it back transformed version of it and even when you laugh, it tries to mimic your laughter causing hysterical laughter. Do you know what I'm talking about?
  • I'm having a problem with a video taken with an iphone 4S? On Friday I took three videos at a wedding. Two of them I have copied onto my computer with no problems but the final one won't do anything! When I transfer it over it has a size of 0KB and when I tried to edit it with Movie Maker it won't import there either. Any ideas?
