Ways to re-unlock a factory unlocked iPhone 4?
I just got a factory unlocked iPhone 4 and put my tmobile chip in and I keep getting an E next my signal at the top of the phone and i called tmobile and they said I won't be able to get 3G-4g because It is a factory unlocked phone and I didn't buy it from them. Is there a way to re-unlock it or another way to get 3G.
Sounds like its something the carrier has locked out, I don't think you can change this with your phone.
Factory unlocked iPhones can't be locked.
That T-Mobile rep clearly didn't know what he/she was talking about. Before T-Mobile announced the iPhone to be officially sold by them a couple of weeks ago they had estimated that there was over 1 million of them already on the network, which in most, if not all cases, had to be unlocked since T-Mobile was not an official carrier for the phone at that point.
The reason why you are getting E, which stands for EDGE which is 2G by the way, is because T-Mobile uses different frequencies for their 3G network than what the iPhone used, so the iPhone goes to the next one it could access that being the 2G/EDGE network. Been that way for years now.
They are however introducing iPhone friendly 3G/4G towers now that they do sell the phone officially so it would be a matter of time.
- Will an unlocked iphone 4S work for tmobile if it isn't factory unlocked? I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.
- Unlocked vs factory unlocked iphone? So I'm thinking about getting an iPhone but I wanted to know if I could take an unlocked iPhone to the Verizon store an them set it up for me? I have no clue what the difference between factory unlocked, unlocked, and locked iPhones are
- If I unlock my iphone myself, will it be the same as the factory unlocked iphone 4? Just a question, I'm thinking about unlocking my iphone 4. I don't want to buy the factory unlocked iphone 4's so I think I will just do it myself. After I unlock it, will it become and act the same way as the unlocked iphones you can buy from Apple? Also, what is the quickest way to unlock it?
- If i jailbreak my unlocked iphone, can i factory unlock it again later at home? I bought an iPhone and paid extra money to unlock it. Now i want to jailbreak it to use cydia… If i jaolbreak it, can i unlock it again later if i change my mind? I have the latest ios 7 version. IPhone is 4s
