What are my chances for the University of Michigan?

What are my chances at Umich School of Engineering via Early Action? Please don't answer with a link to any websites as I have already been to nearly all college chancing websites already.

As many will say, I have a low GPA, however does having an upward trend help compensate for this?

Essay quality: if I rated my essay quality from 1(scribbles and nonsense) - 10 (Ivy League quality) I'd probably give it a 7 or 8.

Most people have told me that it will be a high match/reach. What do you think? Any answers appreciated!

No chance.

Weighted GPA is utterly useless in college admissions. Colleges will not even look at your weighted GPA since every school weighs their classes differently. For the sake of this post, I'm going to assume the equivalent UW GPA is about.3 points lower than your W GPA.

Michigan doesn't look at superscored SAT's, they only look at the best score from a single sitting (even if it says otherwise on collegeboard). Your extracurriculars are pretty decent, and will certainly help you out since some of them are relevant for engineering. As for your transcript, your courses rigor is pretty good, but your grades are not the best. Your competing against people who have 3.8-4.0 unweighted GPAs, even with the upward trend, I don't know if it's enough to grant you admission. You certainly have a chance of acceptance, but don't count on it and make sure you have a couple of alternative schools to consider.

Yes you'll get in to the University of Michigan. I wouldn't worry about it too much. You have excellent stats - if you took harder classes and had a higher GPA, you could maybe get into some Ivy League schools.
