What are my chances of getting accepted to Stanford?
I know Stanford is probably unrealistic given my resume but I'm curious. This is what I have:
- 34 ACT
- 3.6 gpa (I know this is low)
- 8+ AP and Honors courses
- some volunteer work and extracurricular activities
- self-taught and built 3 iphone apps when I was 13 and had them in the app store for a while
- founded my own LLC when I was 14 for an ecommerce business
- self-taught myself web development at age 14-16 and have run multiple websites for an income.
I know some of this stuff is kind of out there but I know Stanford and other selective schools look for students with unique credentials. Given this resume, do you think I have any chance of getting into Stanford?
0.0 (read ZERO POINT ZERO)… Once you get a degree in something… Nobody gives one rat's a s s where you went to get it.
You probably don't have that good of a chance. But hey, you can sure as hell get into some great schools
You're a shoo-in.
The last report I read on the subject (about a year ago) states that Stanford has the LOWEST acceptance rate of all colleges and universities in the United States -- less than 5%.
Only 3% of freshman admitted in 2015 had a high school GPA of less than 3.70; 88% of those freshman had an ACT score of 30 or higher.
It's worth applying, as long as you have realistic expectations… As long as you realize that it is THE HARDEST college to get into in the United States, and no school can admit EVERY qualified person who applies. There simply isn't room for everyone.
You chances aren't good, but all you can do is try. You are correct in that school like Stanford often look to see if a student has been ambitious and achieved something out of the ordinary. If you are a white male your chances of getting into Stanford or any Ivy League school are about 2%. With your grades and scores, even less. That noted, you could have the unique combination that intrigues the admissions staff. Just make sure that you apply to a variety of universities, so of which admit at least 20% of all applicants.
Just to give you a reality check I know a couple kids who had 3.8 or 9 unweighted GPAs, 10-12 APs with 5s on the tests, ACT of 35 and 800 on their SAT II subject tests with varsity sports, and team captains along with multiple years of volunteer work in 3rd world countries who didn't get in.
- Will my cancellation request be accepted by amazon? I ordered a iphone 4 otterbox case and then about an hour later I realized I didn't need it & then I requested to cancel it. Now I'm wondering if it will be cancelled and will my money be kept? And how long will it take for it to be cancelled?
- What if your return has been accepted with the Education Credits? My return was accepted on Jan 25. I efiled with Turbo Tax on Jan 11. I did claim the American Opportunity Credit and the software used Form 8863. I'm very concerned and confused! Does this mean that my refund will be delayed because of this particular credit? Or is does "Accepted" mean it's good to go! The Turbo Tax Iphone app says to expect a refund before February 20 ( initially it said Feb 10… ). Any help is greatly appreciated!
- Someone airdroped around 200 photos to me a few times and when I accepted the third time my phone screen turned black When I open it now it says it needs charging and turns on when I hold on button for a few seconds. It turns on but the screen turns black after opening it again. I have an Iphone 7
- My tax refund status went from 'accepted' to? For a week it has said 'accepted' today when I checked the status bar is gone and it says something like your return is still being processed, a refund date will be issues when available. BUT when I check the status on my desk top computer it says they have record of my return? What could this mean? Are there any tax experts that know why the status would differ from checking on my iPhone to checking on a desk top?
