What are my options when wanting to use an iPhone in the USA for 3 months?

I'm spending the summer in the US, I can't really find a decent plan that I could use my phone over there. I'd mostly need it for calling home in the UK as well as contacting people in the us and maybe some light google mapping - I'd try to keep that to a minimal/ use Wi-Fi spots.
In the UK I pay £30 a month for unlimited texts, 660 minutes and 1gb of internet, any similar deals for roughly the same price?

Hmm most of the big carriers here are based on contracts. There are some smaller carriers that I believe offer pay as you go services like virgin mobile. Also Tmobile offers no contract and since you already have the phone you may be able to use them for a few months. Imessage is always free even internationally and lots of places here have free Wi-Fi (panera bread, mcdonalds, etc, many restarants and bars… )

  • Wanting to buy the Iphone 5? I have sprint service and have the iphone 4.im not eligible for an upgrade til may 1st 2014. But the iphone 5 is at walmart for 98$ with a 2year contract with sprint verizon or at&t. Can I buy that for my service at that price and use it? Or will it cost me more because I don't have an upgrade?

  • Options for phone to use Uber? I have an older version of iPhone and can't upgrade it and I can't currently afford a new phone but I will be traveling and need to use Uber. It is not downloadable on my old phone so how i can get Uber in airport for example or maybe there are some cheap phones or anything else I can use
  • My first time wanting to use a 2-year contract with Verizon? How do 2-year contracts work? Also, how much do plans for unlimited web cost? (I'm wanting to but the new iPhone 5S)
